Inside Out - "Burning Fight" from Toe Jam's, Long Beach CA, 6/1/1991
Honestly, we had no intentions of turning this Inside Out entry into a three day piece, but I really couldn't help myself. I had noticed a link to a video posted in the comment section and after I took a look at it, I realized that I absolutely had to get it up here. A lot of people that have seen Inside Out live have talked about their legendary energy and stage presence and I think these three videos are a good representation of just that. Hopefully you enjoy these as much as I did. -Tim DCXX

Great article about a great band. Got to see them in CT, MA , and NJ . Went to see them in DC but the show was canceled. This article is starting to bring back the memories.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember the band Statement. Not the Hardline band. They had a demo that was heavy as hell for the time. I think some of them went on to form Slag. I think the demo was called Soul Sacrifice or something like that. Keep up the good work DC !
That is definitely me with the red shirt and the white hat at about age 15 or 16 on the side of the stage.
ReplyDeleteHaha
Zach's stage antics always seemed a bit contrived, and still do to this day. He never seemed humble at the popularity of his band. Inside Out was great, but sorta over-dramatic. I was at many west coast shows they played but could only listen and not watch so much or the idiot shivers would take over.
ReplyDeleteSorry, someone had to say it.
That second video is from a really great show which was also one of the last shows for Hard Stance and the first for Farside. It took place a church in Irvine which made it a bit surreal. Against the Wall, Pitchfork, and Reason to Believe also played. I'll try to make some prints from the show for you guys in the near future.
ReplyDeleteAnon 2, You're right, and I touched on it in the first part of this trilogy. Those videos still don't do the live set justice though.
ReplyDeleteDave, that would be cool. That was a really fun show, I don't think I ever saw pics from it. Sundahl was barefoot in the pit all night and I accidentally caught one of Brett Page's forearms to my head hahahaha
Total energy. Wish I had seen them. I definitely liked Inside Out way, way better than RATM which I really didn't like at all.
ReplyDeleteAndrew Strife! Is that your store in the link? Pretty cool. I think I asked Tim for a story on Strife a while back....maybe you can write it!
Anon 1, If you mean the Statement that was from CA and like a mix between Inside Out and Statue, yes I remember them they were F-ing amazing I was always bummed they never did anything else. WOW that just brought back another memory!!
ReplyDeleteI was at that Toe Jam show and it was amazing. There were alot of good shows at Toe Jam and this was one of the best.
