Sacha, The Token Entry painters hats were sold by the band at live shows around the time that From Beneath The Streets came out... I used to have one that I bought at a TE show at CB's, that I later gave away. Not sure how many were made or if the kid's in the video is an OG, but they were pretty damn cool!
are you people for real? this show looks like a blast, and all you can do is sit there and sweat some kids BOOTLEG token entry hat? i'm sure i'll just get written off as "one of those salty old guys", but fuck... you people are too much. if you wanna discuss "fashion", go watch some project runway, not a dys video. why do i even waste my time...
Wait - this Tim here isn't the Tim who writes the blog, right? The Tim who wrote the comment below cannot be the same dude who writes 'my favorite t-shirt' posts. No way.
The TE hat was fresh in '87 and cool as shit to see in 2011. Project runway? Blow it the fuck out your ass. A major component of what made hardcore so great was the records, zines, shirts, hats, stickers, etc designed by kids without the aid of computer graphics and layouts. Seeing that hat reminds me of that aesthetic that is long since gone. A time when you wanted to hear a band or find out what a scene was about you had to go to a show, not watch a video posted on some blog.
yeah let's talk about hats, that's hardcore (or hatcore). music and lyrics aren't important anymore. in your next gig, dys, put some hats on your heads, and todays hardcore kids will talk about you.
Punk's dead - Just the newest trend Rank on their looks But at gigs call them friend It's cool now to put it down What you were last week Gets a peer police frown You used to talk about open minds Was all that a lie, Or have you just grown old? Look like you want But don't tell me how to live It's you who says looks don't matter
The show was amazing, and the guy makes those hats. I've asked him at a previous show but I forgot his contact info. He's always around though. The show itself was fantastic, it was great seeing and hanging with friends and seeing all the great bands. DYS and antidote killed and skull crusher was a great change of pace. If anyone knows the guy with the hat tell him people want to get in touch with him. Thanks.
Welcome to DOUBLE CROSS - an online fanzine dedicated to the hardcore we love... past, present, and future. The goal is classic fanzine vibe and content, with stories, interviews, photos and more - updated every day through the week. While this might be a "blog," we want it to go beyond what that term typically represents.
And while we are undoubtedly straight edge and will put the best straight edge bands at the heart of this site, in no way does that mean we won't be featuring all of of our other favorite hardcore bands here as well.
Check out the below links for more info on us, as well as what we have been putting up here since beginning construction in March '08. Get in touch if you wanna contribute or just say what's up. X X X Tim McMahon / Gordo
THANX: We would like to give thanks and credit to Ken Salerno, Tim Singer / Boiling Point, Dave Sine and all the other photographers that have graced the pages of Double Cross. We could not do this with out you, so thank you very much for your contributions.
Big thanks also to some of our regular contributors, people like Joe Nelson, Billy Rubin, Agent A, Tony Rettman, Jordan Cooper, Larry Ransom, etc. All have been huge assets to Double Cross and we greatly appreciate all your help, effort and time.
Also, we'd like to give thanks to Ed McKirdy over at Livewire Records for lending his help and support to this project.
